I’d like to share how a recent church service opened my eyes to a greater purpose, Jesus.
In this crazy world, there are times we have that feeling of hopelessness. We might feel like we have no purpose. The good news is God has a purpose for each one of us.
The problem is many seek their purpose on their own. Sometimes it's like rolling the dice and hoping we succeed. Success in today's world is measured by how much money we make, how big of a house we have, or how popular we are.
Reality has shown us the above things are nice to have, but true happiness belongs to those who know God and lean on Him through prayer to find His divine purpose for their lives.
Recently at my church, our Pastor introduced us to a missionary from Germany. Our church supports many missionaries from around the world. He happens to be one of them. This missionary's story opened my eyes to how much we take for granted.
My pastor on behalf of the church presented him and his family with a check to show our support. Later, my pastor received a letter from this family. The letter disclosed the family used part of the funds to buy a "working" vacuum cleaner.
I tell you this story in the hope you can appreciate how much this missionary and his family have gone without for a greater purpose. God's purpose.
On judgment day, we can't take any of our riches or fame to heaven. We will be judged by how much we have done for others and more importantly, did we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and lead others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
How about you? Are you leaning on your own understanding of the path you should take in life? That seems very scary to me. I urge you to turn to God through His Son Jesus Christ for wisdom and discernment on what path God has for your life.
You can have the peace that surpasses all understanding in all your decisions when you give your life to Jesus Christ. God’s word tells us:
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 3:16 (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
You can be very sure that you are a child of God when you repent of your sins and surrender your life to Jesus Christ.
You can do that right now by praying the following prayer:
“Lord Jesus Christ,
I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life. I ask your forgiveness and now turn from everything which I know is wrong. Thank you for dying on the cross for me to set me free from my sins. Please come into my life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and be with me forever.
Thank you Lord Jesus, Amen.”
If you prayed that prayer it says in Acts 2:38 that you should be Baptized:
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
You can be Baptized by talking to a pastor at a local Bible believing church near you. Here is a link to help you find a church near you:
This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen this relationship you should:
1) Read your Bible every day to know Christ better.
2) Talk to God in prayer every day.
3) Tell others about Christ.
4) Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
5) As Christ’s representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
